New Features of The GranuPack

In many industrial applications involving powders, the powders are processed at high temperature. Therefore, to predict powder behaviour, the characterization must be done at the same temperature. We adapted our GranuPack instrument to perform packing dynamic measurement from ambient temperature to 200°C. 

The measurement at high temperature is particularly interesting for Additive Manufacturing methods based on selective layer melting, especially with polymer powders. In this application, the powder is preheated to decrease the amount of energy needed for the laser irradiation to melt the powder.

Therefore, both the flowability and the packing dynamics of the powder must be sufficient at this preheating temperature to produce uniform powder layers during the recoating process.

During this virtual product launch, we showed how the high temperature GranuPack can be used to improve additive manufacturing, food, and pharma processes.
