Powder Characterization lab of Professor Paul Mort at Purdue University

Last week, the Managing Director of Granutools, Filip Francqui, had the chance to visit the powder characterization lab of Prof. Paul Mort at Purdue University.

The Purdue Center for Particulate Products and Processes (CP3) seeks to address the lack of knowledge related to particulate materials. Their vision is to create new functionality, improve quality, and reduce the costs of particulate-based products.

It was the perfect occasion to discuss about the next steps in powder characterization for metal AM and to check on some ‘old friends’: the GranuPack and the GranuDrum (in the picture).

They will soon be joined by a brand new GranuFlow to expand the powder characterization power of the lab and get new exciting insights on the link between distributed (size, shape) and ensemble (flow, packing) characteristics of a large variety of powders.
