Granutools' team will attend the Accelerating Access to Medicines Workshop

RCPE will hold “Accelerating Access to Medicines” Workshop on March 27 and 28, 2023 at the Austrian Embassy in Washington DC. This workshop will feature top experts from FDA, pharma companies, equipment providers, academics and RCPE.

The goal of the workshop is to identify bottlenecks in the development pipeline and to propose solutions for bringing medicines to patients much faster.

Filip Francqui will give, on the 28^th of March 2023, the presentation “Powder characterization for continuous manufacturing with a focus on electrostatics”.

Continuous manufacturing is a promising future for the production of pharmaceuticals but can lead to can lead to a drift in the powder properties, which may affect processability, variability, and meeting regulatory requirements.

One of the main problems encountered in the continuous manufacturing of pharmaceutical products is the electrostatic charge buildup that is inherent to the flow of powders, contributing to material cohesiveness, clogging, and agglomeration.

Proper characterization is essential for optimizing pharmaceutical formulations, but current methods do not account for electrostatic properties. In this presentation, a new method allowing to precisely evaluate the tribocharging propensity of powders will be presented: the GranuCharge. In addition, the useful insights gathered from electrostatic characterization will be demonstrated through practical case studies.
