Granutools will present at Dry Coating Forum - September 10 - 11, 2024
Granutools' team will attend Dry Coating Forum on 10-11 September 2024 in Dresden, Germany.
About Dry Coating Forum: Shaping the Future of Dry Battery Electrode Processing
The Dry Coating Forum (DCF) is a leading platform dedicated to advancing dry battery electrode processing, a key innovation for greener and more efficient battery production. As electric vehicle demand grows, traditional slurry-based electrode manufacturing, with its high energy use and toxic solvents, is becoming obsolete. Dry coating offers a more sustainable alternative by eliminating solvents, reducing equipment footprint, and cutting energy costs. Organized by Fraunhofer IWS, DCF brings together material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, cell makers, and end users to discuss the latest trends and challenges in dry coating technologies.
Presentation: PTFE for dry coating: powder fibrillation and flowability quantification with dedicated methods
In his presentation "PTFE for Dry Coating: Powder Fibrillation and Flowability Quantification with Dedicated Methods" Filip Francqui will address the use of PTFE as a binder in dry battery electrode manufacturing. Unlike traditional slurry methods, this process uses powder directly spread on a current collector, offering environmental and cost benefits but posing challenges due to powder flowability and rheology.
He will highlight how PTFE helps create a thin film through fibrillation, with the extent of fibrillation affecting the film's properties. He will introduce methods for quantifying fibrillation using granular physics, including the GranuPack for density measurement and the GranuDrum for flowability analysis, to improve the handling and quality control of powder blends.
