Presentation - Powder characterization to address the challenges of dry coating for electrode manufacturing

15:40 –16:00 | Session 11 –Equipments & Manufacturing | Salle Neptune

Our poster, Powder Characterization to Address the Challenges of Dry Coating for Electrode Manufacturing, highlights the critical role of powder characterization in optimizing battery electrode production. As battery manufacturing evolves toward dry processes, understanding powder flowability, bulk density, and densification speed becomes essential to ensuring consistent performance.

We present advanced tools designed to quantify these properties under realistic process conditions, including the effects of temperature and shear rate. Through case studies with materials like Graphite, Sulfur, LFP, and PTFE, we demonstrate how precise powder characterization enhances process control, ultimately improving electrode manufacturing and battery performance.

Meet us at Booth A10 and discover the GranuPack High Temperature!

The GranuPack High-Temperature is one of our latest innovations in powder characterization, enabling precise measurement of packing dynamics up to 200°C. By integrating a laser sensor and a temperature-controlled heating cell, it allows industries to analyze how heat influences powder behavior—crucial for processes like pre-sintering, where solid bridges form and drastically alter packing properties.

In battery manufacturing, the GranuPack HT is essential for dry electrode production, helping optimize powder handling at process temperatures between 40°C and 180°C. It also plays a key role in fibrillation quantification for PTFE-based dry coatings, ensuring the right balance of plasticizing and adhesion properties for solvent-free electrode manufacturing.
