Instruments

A set of complementary tools

Combining decades of experience in scientific instrumentation with fundamental research on powders characterization, we offer a unique set of complementary instruments for granular materials characterization.

Our approach

Our instruments provide measurements correlated with production processes, system quality control, or optimization of the storage conditions.

Measurements collected reflect complexities of the physicochemical and rheological properties of the particulate and granules substances as well of nature: ceramic, metal, polymer, pharmaceutical, or food.

Our approach is fact-based, original, and relevant.
Our measurables are easy to interpret and rely on the physics of powders.

We work on flowability, cohesion, packing, and electrification of powders.

Workflows

We follow a general principle for powder flow measurement: "The stress state and the flow field of the powder should be comparable in the measurement cell and in the process."

Our instruments mimic processes at a different scale. The complementary instruments are then combined into workflows to reproduce each step of the processes we want to characterize.

Simulations

The combination of simple geometries and precision makes our instruments great candidates to calibrate numerical models with physical measurables. Particularly, we provide values for cohesion, friction coefficients, and electrostatics.

Granutools is compatible with several simulation software where characteristics such as the cohesive index or the slope index can be set as an input for simulation parameters.
